- At his marriage in 1759, Samuel Thacker is stated to be of the parish of Clifton Campville, Derbyshire, a precise description as most of that parish was in Staffordshire. Chilcote, part of that parish, was then in Derbyshire. It was later reassigned to Leicestershire. Later, the Sapcote parish registers show Samuel Thacker for a period in Sapcote, Leicestershire; for a few years back in Gratwich, and thereafter in Sapcote. While Samuel may have been the first to move to Leicestershire, a dozen years earlier, a "John Thacker, sojourner" was buried in Burbage, Leicestershire, and may possibly be identified with Samuel's grandfather.
