It is said Samuel went to IN with 7 of his 10 sones. We have found only 6 in IN and only 9 overall. Samuel and his brother Isaac D. left NC early 1801. Samuel's son Wm. A. was born 1802 in TN. they were in Floyd Co., KY by 1804. In 1806 that part of Floyd Co., became Clay Co., and Sam and Isaac are listed as Colonial Families in Clay Co. They settled near the mouth of Rockhouse Creek. this area became Perry Co., 1821. Sam left clay Co., and went up into what became Breathitt Co., in the area we now call "Up on Frozen" the rest of the family in NC except Andrew and Elizabeth had come into this region in 1817. Samuel remained there thru 1826 and then went with the 7 sons to IN.

The 2 girls who appear on 1810 census are gone from home or d. by 1820 The 2 boys & 1 girl on the 1840 census we are sure are Samuel's Jr.s. Samuel Jr. is the one to 40 and Zephaniah is the one to 50. Zephaniah did not marry or we just haven't found the record, but we have a Wm. Tolby who married Hendricks Co., IN to Margaret Bowman 8-2-1832. This Wm. was probably born ca 1814 or so and at that time every one who could have a son named Wm. already did have, so we just gave him to Zephaniah. At the sale of the household goods after Samuel's death, Zephaniah bot most everything. We have not found him or son Wm. since the 1840 census.
