  6. The lineage of Samuel Spooner as printed in the cited NEHGR article does not make sense. His father is supposedly the Samuel Spooner who married Elizabeth Parker. According to Source:Spooner, Thomas. Records of William Spooner of Plymouth, Mass. and His Descendants, p. 116, lists this father Samuel as the son of Joshua Spooner and Freelove Westcott, but they did not marry until 1749 which rules out their supposed grandson being born 1766. It is possible that Joshua had an earlier wife who was the mother of Samuel, or but it seems more likely that the father Samuel was actually Joshua's brother Samuel, not Joshua's son, i.e., s/o Benjamin and Zerviah Spooner who "d. prior to 1793" which compares well to statements that Elizabeth (Parker) Spooner was a widow in 1791.
