    "Samuel Sewall, b. (Salem) 24 Nov. 1689; bp. (First Church, Salem) 23 Nov. 1689 [sic] d. (Boston), probably s.p., 5 May 1757; … Samuel Sewall was a merchant and ship chandler in Boston. In 1720 he was a member of the Artillery Company, of which he was appointed Captain in 1734, and in 1733 he was Major in the Boston regiment. The will of Samuel Sewall of Boston, merchant, dated 11 Jan. 1753, proved at Suffolk County Probate Court 6 May 1757, makes bequests to beloved wife Katherine, loving brother and sister Stephen Sewall and Mehitable Robie."
