Children of William Robinson and Elizabeth Cutter: 6 Samuel, b. 20 Apr 1680, innkeeper at Cambridge, sold his land 13 Jun 1721 and moved to Westborough, where he d. before 24 Apr 1724 when administration on his estate was granted to widow Elizabeth and her brother Jedekiah Brigham. He m. (1) 23 Mar 1704 Sarah Manning, m. (2) 16 Oct 1711 Elizabeth Brigham.
- Source:Cutter, William Richard. New England Families, Genealogical and Memorial, p. 1:156, confuses this Samuel with his son Samuel. At one point, he says, "He married Sarah Manning, and he was a soldier in the French and Indian wars. He was a founder of Bennington, Vermont, with his sons, and he died there in 1767." The marriage does indeed belong to this Samuel, though the second marriage is not mentioned. All the rest (F&I War, founding of Bennington) describes the son, as the father d. 1724.
Cutter also identifies Samuel as a twin with Jonathan. According to Cambridge VRs, Samuel was b. 20 Apr 1680, while Jonathan was 20 Apr 1682. While it is very coincidental that two successive children would be born on the same day of the year, Source:Paige, Lucius R. History of Cambridge, Massachusetts, 1630-1877, p. 644, which predates the published VRs (1877 versus 1914), and so is presumably an independent reading of the original records, agrees with the VRs, and the handwritten records available online say the same: Samuel, p. 532 third from bottom; Jonathan, p. 535 third from bottom. We can only assume Cutter made an error.
