SAMUEL RAY
Samuel Ray, 68 years old, a life long resident of Irwin, died at 5:50 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the Veterans' Hospital, Butler following a long illness. He was born April 12, 1879 at Irwin. He was a retired employee of the Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company where he was employed for 27 years as a machinist.
His wife, Annie Loughner Ray died in 1934. Surviving are two sons, Russell and Benjamin, both of Irwin; four grandchildren and three nephews.
He was a member of the J. Howard Snyder Post 781 VFW; Major James L. Srodes camp No. 74; United Spanish American War Veterans at Wilkinsburg; F.O.E. No. 1671, of Irwin; Life Veterans Employees Association of Westinghouse Electric Manufacturing company. He served in Company A, 14th Pennsylvania Volunteers in the Spanish American War.
Friends will be received at the Rodgers Funeral Home, 310 Third street, Irwin, and funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in charge of Rev. E. M. Dietrich. Military services will be in charge of the V.F.W. Interment will be in the Irwin Union cemetery.
