In 1807 or 1809 James Mitchell, Thomas Rawls and Samuel Murff left SC for Georgia and settled there between 1809 and 1811. By about 1830 he had moved on to Perry County, Alabama and finally settled in Mississippi. Samuel Murff was a Methodist Minister. Samuel's first 5 children were born in South Carolina. Three later children were born in Georgia. They must have lived in Georgia about 9 years. The next three children were born in Alabama. Nathan Constantine, Alexander W. and Sterling Elder. Samuel apparently settled in Mississippi because his daughter Rachel died there about 1849 in Winston County. His son Alexander W. died in Winston County in 1880 and Samuel died in Winston County in 1860. Levi Columbus, Samuel's oldest son patented land in Green County, AL in 1827. He was married in Johnson County, Arkansas in 1838. One son is listed as being born in Mississippi . (John Alexander) in 1846.
