Wardell, Lt. Col. U.S. Army Ret. : Mitchell, Samuel - born 3/15/1760 below Fredericksburg in King William County, Virginia; entered service 1775 in Montgomery County, Virginia, where he resided; moved in 1818 to Ohio, where granted Pension abt. age 73 in Miami County in 1832 when he resided in Bethel Township; died 4/25/1840 in that County; married 7/7/1780 to Malinda Cecil, Montgomery County, Virginia, who was born 4/15/1760; widow granted Pension 1849 in Miami County, Ohio; son George made affidavit there then; William Cecil [no kinship given] made affidavit then there that he was born in Virginia & resided in same Virginia neighborhood as soldier; John Cecil [no kinship given] made affidavit there then that he was born in Virginia & knew soldier there; soldier & wife had several children, the eldest abt. age 65-70 in 1849; query letter in file says soldier resided in New Carlisle, Ohio; query letter in file states soldier died near Troy, Ohio.
