Paxtang Township, Dauphin, Pennsylvania, United States"In the name of God, Amen, ye 20th day of January 1746, I Samuel Means of Paxtang and County of Lancaster in ye province of Pennsylvania, Farmer, Being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore Calling unto mind ye Mortality of my Body and knowing yet it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament. Viz: Principally and First of all I give and recommend my soul unto ye hands of God that gave it and my body I recommend to ye earth to be buried in decent Christian Burial at ye descretion of my Executors, Nothing Doubting but at ye general Resurection I shall receive ye same again by ye Almighty power of God and as touching with worldly Estate Wherein it hath pleased God to Bless me in this Life. I give and Demise and Dispose of ye same in ye following manner and form. I give and bequeath unto my well Beloved wife Grissel Meins, ye Black Mare, Sadle and Bridle, our Bed over and above her third of my Estate, viz, that is to be at the Discretion of my Executors will and pleasure as above said. "Secondly I Give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Nelly Meins, ye roan mare and I do allow my wife Grissel Meins to buy her a good Buckskin Saddle and a good Bridle or in lieu thereof to pay her three pounds, five shillings of this currency. "Thirdly I bequeath to my Daughter Margret Meins five shillings of this currency. "Fourthly I bequeath to my son Andrew Meins five shillings of this currency. "Fifthly I bequeath unto Jean Means five shillings of this currency. "Sixthly to Isabella Meins my daughter I bequeath five shillings of this currency. "Seventhly unto John Meins my son I bequeath five shillings of this currency. "Ninthly [sic] unto my son Samuel Meins I give and bequeath the Black Mares Colt over and above his share of my estate. And I do hereby utterly Disallow revoke and Disanull all and Every other former Estimates, Wills, Legacies and bequests and executors by me in any ways before Named Willed and Bequeathed Ratifying this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament, Willing, allowing and authorizing my Beloved Wife Grissel Meins, Robert Taylor and Andrew Stephen to be true and Lawful Executors of this my last will and Testament.
