Submitted by: Trellys Wilson Erwin (http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/grady/grady.html) http://ftp.rootsweb.ancestry.com/pub/usgenweb/ok/grady/obits/jkl/j2500078.txt From an article in the paper . . . . Feb. 1921 Sam. H. Jackson Dead Sam. H. Jackson, prominent citizen, contractor and ex-Marshall of Rush Springs died suddenly at his home in the west part of the City, at thirty minutes past Twelve oclock Thursday. The Physician stated, that his sudden death was caused by the rupture of a blood vessel in his head. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. and W.O.W. lodges and was 52 years old. He had lived here Thirty Years. The deceased leaves a wife and nine children, besides two brothers, and a host of friends, who mourn his sudden demise. We extend sympathy to the bereaved family in their sorrow. Note also from Trellys Erwin: "Interesting side about Sam Houston Jackson; Sam wars pardoned by President William McKinley on May 31, 1901 from conviction on selling liquor to the Indians on Oct, 7, 1898. This was about 6 months after getting married. I have his pardon." Sam's birth date in the 1900 census is probably an error. His age through the years varies a good bit; the 1920 comes the closest to actual. 1900 Census Dist 159, Twp 4, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory Rush Springs Jackson, Sam H. head W M Jan 1871 28 M2yrs TX TN AL Jackson, Alice wife W F Aug 1878 21 M2yrs 1ch;1lvg GA GA GA Jackson, Rosella dau W F Dec 1898 1 S Ind Try TX GA 1910 Census Dist 105, Rush Springs, Grady Co., Oklahoma Jackson, San H. head M W 40 M2 m12yrs TX US US Jackson, Alice wife F W 31 M1 M12yrs 6ch:5lvg GA GA GA Jackson, Roda dau F W 11 S OK TX GA Jackson, Mittie Dau F W 9 S OK TX GA Jackson, Ira son M W 7 S OK TX GA Jackson, Hazul dau F W 4 S OK TX GA Jackson, Ervin son M W 1 S OK TX GA 1920 Census Dist 185, Rush Springs, Grady Co., Oklahoma enumerated January 14, 1920 this census was very faint & difficult to read Jackson, S.
