Notes 2004: From the "History of Delaware Co., New York - 1880" by W. W. Munsell & Co., 36 Vesey St., N.Y., page 271, his mini-biography is as follows: Middletown, Delaware Co. - S. P. Ives was born in Greene Co. in 1827. He entered the law office of D. K. & J. Olney, of Windham, Greene Co. in 1851, where he remained 3 years. After one term at the Albany Law School he was admitted to the bar in 1854. He practiced at Windham 19 years; he then removed to Margaretville, where he is now located.
