RAVAGES BY DOGS Mr. R. Casey, the secretary of the North- Eastern and Goulburn Valley Agricultural and Pastoral Association, wrote, drawing the attention of the society to the following resolution that had been passed by them : — "That the secretary be instructed to write to the National Agricultural Society, suggest ing the advisability of holding a meeting in Melbourne to frame and submit to Parlia- ment a dog act suitable to the requirements of farming districts, and also to ask the National Agricultural Society to write to kin- dred societies requesting them to send delegates to such meeting." He said that Mr. Samuel Hunt, farmer, of Merriquin, had stated that during the last two months he had eighty- three sheep killed by vagrant dogs, and con- sidered that he had lost the whole profit of his flock for the year. It was decided to bring the matter under the notice of the Minister of Agriculture, and ask him to have the Amended Dog Act passed as soon as possible.
