Will of Samuel Hensley

In the name of God Amen. I Samuel Hensley of King George County and Hanover Township being sick and weak in body, but of sound and perfect memory thanks be given to Almighty God. I therefore and calling to mind the uncertainly of this life do make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament revoking all former Wills ratifying and confirming this to be my true and sole Will in manner and form following viz -
Item - I give my Soul into the hands of my creator and my body to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix here after named in sure and urbaine of joyful resurrection to eternal life through the merits of my Savior, Jesus Christ and for what world goods it has pleased God to bless me with I give as following viz -
Item - Whereas my son's by former wife are grown to years can be able of getting their own living and considering my estate to be barely sufficient for the raising of my younger children it is my desire therefor that my son's William, Joseph, and Edward Hensley be contented each to have one Shilling Sterling to be paid immediately after my decease if demanded together with my blessings and prayers to God for their future welfare.
Item - I give to my beloved wife Elizabeth my land and plantation in Spotsylvania to her during her life and after her decease to my son's James and George Hensley to them and their heirs forever to be equally divided between them.
Item - I give to my son George Hensley all my ready made wearing clothes.
Item - I give to my son Samuel Hensley one heifer or steer of three years old.
Item - All rest of my Estate both real and personal I give to my beloved wife a forsaid to be wholly at her disposal for the good and support of herself and children and it is my desire that Elizabeth my wife may be sole Executres of my Last Will and Testament.
Lastly I do revoke all former Wills and do ratify and confirm this to be my true and last Will and Testament as witness my hand and Seal this twenty eighth day of February 1731/32 signed sealed in presence of us.

At a court held for Orange County on Tuesday the 17th day of February 1735. The last Will and Testament of Samuel Hensley deceased was presented into Court by Elizabeth Hensley his widow Executres there in named and was proven in open court by the oath of Joseph Berry and Thomas Suttlo witnesses there to and his wife Elizabeth having made oath there to according to law it is committed to record.

Know all you by these presence that we Elizabeth Hensley, William Bohannan, and Abraham Bledsoe are held and firmly bound into Goodrich Lightfoot the first Custodian of the commission of the peace for Orange County for and in behalf and to the sole use and behalf of the trustees of the said Court and there agrees to the sum of one hundred pounds to be paid to Goodrich Lightfoot and his Ex. And Adm. And assignee to those which payment will and truly be made. We bind ourselves and every one of us and every one of our heirs Executros and Administrators joyfully and severly firly by those present. Sealed with our Seal this seventeenth day of February 1735.
