Lamuel [sic] Hedg the son of Samuel and Grace Hedg was Born at Eastham the ten day of January 1703/4.
[The colonial S looks very much like an L, but the 'a' that follows suggests this is Samuel, even though the father's name provides a Samuel to compare with, and one wouldn't expect George Bowman to make this type of mistake. Samuel's will of 1714 is said to mention both a Lemuel and Samuel, but there is also a gravestone of a son Samuel that died 1709 aged 5, which appears to match this birth record.]
