Dr. French includes a second, unrecorded, Samuel as son of William and Elizabeth (-----) French and that he was the Samuel French who married Sarah Cummings.[1] John William Linzee subsequently demonstrated that was almost certainly Samuel, son of Lieutenant Richard and Martha (-----) French of Cambridge who married Sarah.[4] Robert Charles Anderson does not include the second Samuel in his sketch of William French.[5]
