Estate

Inventory of Samuell Freathy's estate was completed by John Penwill and William Wormewood 23 March 1685/6 at York. Contents of the estate include hooks, lines, "20 Cod Hoookes," lead, and items in the boat, including "a Rhoade, 18 fathome" and "1 Compass," all of which indicate Samuel was a fisherman. Total value of the estate was £45 16s.[2]

    Samuel, b. say 1660; on 25 Nov 1685, a coroner's jury convened "to view the body of Samuell Freathy deceased November 24, 1685" found that "upon search according to our best understanding & judgments that falling out of a canoe into the water, the water & the cold was the cause of his death;" on 18 Dec 1685, administration on the estate of "Samuell Freathy, lately deceased," was granted to "Mr. Robert Eliett of the Great Island in New Hampshire, merchant"; apparently unmarried."
