  6. Sep 1894 is a few months after the death of Carey's first wife (so he couldn't have been her son) and before Carey's marriage to Lucinda. Possible explanations are that he was actually born in Sep 1895 (as one of his Social Security records states), that he was the posthumous son of Lucinda's first husband (although there are no hints that he was born a Whitmire), or that Carey and Lucinda had an affair before the death of his first wife. If he was born before Lucinda married Carey, his surname at birth should have been Whitmire, and there is no evidence for that.
