  2. ↑ NEHGR, "Fenno Family" by Allen H. Bent, Vol. 52, p. 454, calls Samuel "perhaps the Samuel who married Mercy Gibson and d. in Brookfield, Vt.", the "perhaps" meaning this is speculative. No death record in Vermont has been located. However, an AFN lists Samuel's death in Brookfield, VT, on 6 Mar 1817, which just happens to match the date recorded in Milton for his father Benjamin's death (in case the tongue-in-cheek is not obvious, this coincidence suggests the death date is utterly erroneous).
