    Wounded at Battle of the Wilderness
    He was captured during fighting near Petersburg, Virginia and imprisoned at Andersonville for three and a half months, when the prisoners were relocated to Salisbury as a result of Union forces nearing the camp. He spent nearly three more months imprisioned at Salisbury before being exchanged.
    He was honorably discharged.
