Facts and Events
Believe that Samuel was a Loyalist as also were the Grays. He was captured and put in prison near the end of the Revolutionary War. Perhaps this is why he couldn't own land after serving his prison term. Believe that Amos (his son) bought land for his father and brothers so they could live close. Quote: State Prisoners delivered to the Governor, Head Quarters, 13th November 1779. By direction of His Excellency, the Commander in Chief, I have sent under the care of Serjeant Brady, the following Prisoners vizt. Samuel Drinkwater, Henry Coleg...who were lately taken with a Mr. Baremore, and whom the General considers as State Prisoners for your disposal.
