    Samuel Craig served for six years as captain in the revolution in the Continental line from Pennsylvania. After the close of the war he moved to South Carolina, from which State, after his marriage with Jane Innes Bums, he moved to Greene County, Tenn., about 1790. He belonged to the large Craig family, which some- time before the revolution came over from Ireland and settled in a body not far from Easton, Pa., forming what was called the "Irish Settlement." This family was prominent at that early day, as many of its descendants have been ever since. One of them was a colonel in the war for independence, one a major, and five of them were captains.
