- Pg. 239 - Power of attorney by Benjamin Bryan and Mary (Cochran) his wife Jan. 1, 1819 to their son Benjamin to convey interest in tract of land patented to Samuel Cochran by the Governor of Virginia. Executed in Washington City, District of Columbia, with Mary examined separately and apart from and out of the hearing of her husband, to show she did this freely and of her own will, "and without being induced byu fear or threats or ill usage by her husband or fear of his displeasure".
