Samuel Chapman, son of Caleb Chapman, born at East Haddam, January 12, 1755, … He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War; was taken prisoner at the battle of White Plains, and, while on board of a prison ship, his constitution was so impaired by disease, that he never afterward recovered from its effects. He resided many years previous to his decease, at Northumberland, Saratoga county, New York. The time of his decease is not known."
