The Baptist Church was organized in Lancaster by the Rev. George Debolt, who resided in Walnut township. This was in the year 1817.
Isaac Church and wife were among the first members. Rev. William White, the first members.
Rev. William White, the father of Dr. J. White, succeeded Debolt and he in turn was succeeded by Rev. Samuel Carpenter.
... In 1830 the public school system of Ohio was inaugurated. Lancaster organized by electing Gen. Sanderson, Rev. Samuel Carpenter and Henry Dubble, three prominent and representative men, to the school board.
