He was mayor of Albany 1901 and 1902 and was for many years president of the Albany Hebrew Congregation, and was "Albany's most distinguished Jew" according to the book "History of Dougherty County" in an article in the Atlanta Constitution : "It is not an exaggeration to say that for a quarter century he has been the first citizen of Southwest Georgia, beloved not only by his own community, but by the whole state." |
