Samuel Bondurant was the eldest son of Darby and Lucy Hall Bondurant. His forefather, John Pierre Bondurant, was a physician from Genolhac, France who arrived in Virginia in 1700 with the first of the French Huguenot emigrants.Samuel and brother Thomas Bondurant inherited 400 acres of land from their father on Sharp's Creek in Buckingham County, Va. making them neighbors of Francis Walker.Samuel married Francis Walker's youngest child, Rebecca, and his brother Thomas married Francis' granddaughter, Mary Ann Moseley.
