The baptism of Adam1 Blakeman's son Samuel2 has now been found at Heage, a chapelry in Duffield, co. Derby. 'Sam the sonne of Mr Blackman preacher was bapt the 9th of September [1630].' While the entry fails to give the father's name, his identity is verified in a local record. The will of "William Harries of Okerthorpe in the parishe of South Wingfield in the Countie of Derbie gentleman," dated 6 Sept. 1631 and proved on 19 Nov. 1631, mentions a payment to "Adam Blackman nowe of Heidge in the County of Derby Clarke." No further record of the Blakeman family is found at Heage or Duffield, so they evidently moved again, before immigrating to Connecticut.
