Listed as Samuel Blackfan in 1850 Fed. census for Henry Co., IL, enumerated on 12 Nov 1850, age 6, b. IL. Listed as Samuel Blackfan in 1870 Fed. Census for Orion, Western Twp., Henry Co., IL, enumerated on 15 Aug 1870, age 27, Farmer, with wife & his mother Elizabeth K. (Trego) Blackfan. Listed as Samuel Blackfan in 1880 Fed. Census for Orion, Henry Co., IL, Dist. 122, enumerated on 5 Jun 1880, age 37, b. IL, farmer, married w/wife and 2 children on Monroe St. Listed as Samuel Blackfan in 1900 Fed. Census for the Nebraska Sanitarium, College View, Lancaster Co., NE, Dist. 38, enumerated on 4 Jun 1900, age 56, b. Jul 1843, IL, widowed, patient at the sanitarium, mission worker. Samuel mentions a Rae Perkins, son of his wife's sister, as a Civil Engr. He apparently moved to Lincoln, NE after she passed away.
