Facts and Events
Obit from Arkansas Gazette, Nov 11 1834, P3 Col 4 Died at his residence in this county, ll miles from this place, on Sunday evening last, after a painful illness of several months, Mr. Samson Gray, aged 38 years, 11 months, and 24 days. Mr. Gray was a native of the state of North Carolina, but emigrated when quite young to Williamson County, Tenn. from whence he removed, with a large number of his connexions, in the winter of 1820-21, and settled the place [then a wilderness] where he died. He was a useful and enterprising citizen, and by his industry and perseverance, had accumulated an ample competence for his young and growing family. He was a kind neighbor, a sincere friend, and a useful member of society, and his memory will long be cherished by a numerous circle of friends and acquaintances. Cut off in the prime of life, and in the midst of its bustle and cares, a disconsolate wife, four small children, and aged father, several brothers and sisters, and a large connexion are called to mourn no common loss in his untimely death. To them his loss is irreparable. |
