Hi, My name is Ruby Edith Lyttle Davies. I am a professional genealogist and the half-grandniece of Samantha LYTTLE (not Little) who married Robert TABOR (not Turner) Gilbert in Newton, Jasper Co., Iowa. Robert Tabor Gilbert was born 20 Jan 1850 in Carter County, KY. Samantha Lyttle was born 28 September 1856 in Union Co., De Kalb Co., Indiana, and she died 19 April 1936 in Viola Center, Audubon Co., Iowa. Her father (my great-grandfather) was William Burnside Lyttle and her mother was his first wife, Susannah Grate. Samantha had three other full siblings, but after her mother's death she was raised by my great-grandmother, Delilah Evaline Smith, who had twelve more Lyttle children, half-siblings to Samantha. Delilah kept a journal with names and dates. Robert and Samantha Gilbert had 12 children, born in Jasper and Audubon Counties, Iowa. I have a group sheet on them that I'm willing to share, if you are interested. Samantha was the only one of the Lyttle children who stayed in Iowa. The rest of the Lyttle tribe went to California in 1885. The Lyttles lived in The Los Angeles area (where I was born) for over 100 years. I have been told that my Grandfather named Robert Thomas Lyttle ((b. 1881), was named for the oldest two Lyttle girls' husbands, ROBERT Tabor Gilbert (m. 1875) and THOMAS W. Calloway, the husband of Samantha's sister, Harriet Elmina Lyttle (m. 1880). If I can add to your marvelous collection, please let me know. My E-mail address is cpq19m5p@@gte.net and I read my mail every day. Hope to hear from you soon. Ruby.
