Sadie Verdoorn, age 99, of Rock Valley, died Monday, December 30, 1996 at the Valley Manor at Rock Valley. Funeral service was 11:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3 at the Porter Funeral Home at Rock Valley. Burial was at the Valley View Cemetery at Rock Valley. Dean Swenson officiated. Visitation was Thursday at the Porter Funeral Home at Rock Valley.

Sadie was born November 11, 1897 at Peuen, Holland. She was the daughter of Klaas and Greta (Speirdyke) Zwaan.

Sadie came to the U.S.A. to the Hudson, SD area with the family when she was nine years old. Sadie married Tom Verdoorn March 25, 1916 at Rock Valley. They lived in the Rock Valley area. Tom died January of 1955. Sadie moved to the Valley Manor at Rock Valley June 21, 1989.

Surviving relatives include her son and his wife, Joe and Betty Verdoorn of New Braunfels, Texas; three daughters, Ellen De Vries of Hudson, SD, Katherine and her husband James Kots of Ireton, IA, Greta and her husband Elmer Veldkamp of Jasper, MN; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.
