Born 17 Feb 1849, bapt 30 Sep 1849. Ruth Ann, daughter of Elliot Hirst [crossed out] and Hannah Whiteley of School Croft, Holme (father: labourer)

Father's name probably crossed out because Ruth Ann was conceived out of wedlock. Her baptism occurred the day after her parents' marriage. Holmfirth Holy Trinity was a chapelry of the Parish Church of All Hallows in Almondbury. At that date marriages had to take place in a parish church, but baptisms could take place in chapelries.
