PRAIRIE CITY — Ruth Mullins, 92, of Prairie City, formerly of Lake City, died Friday, Feb. 1, at Clearview Manor in Prairie City. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Betty Weidert officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Highland Cemetery in Churdan. Friends may call today from 3 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home where the family will be present from 7 to 8 p.m.
The daughter of Garfield A. and Emma C. Wenck Steigerwalt, she was born in rural Glidden. She attended country schools and graduated in 1927 from Glidden High School. She married Alfred Mullins June 5, 1931, in Jefferson. They lived on a farm in rural Paton before moving to a farm in rural Lake City. Mrs. Mullins worked at a cafe and in the dietary department at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital from 1962 to 1972, when she retired. She enjoyed gardening and the Chicago Cubs.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Harold Timmons of Prairie City, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a sister, Eva Wiedemeyer of Carroll.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, two sisters, an infant daughter and a great-grandson.
