MEBANE — Mrs. Ruth Fitch Mebane, 97, of 1462 Mebane Oaks Road, died at 11:55 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at her home after several months of failing health.

A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of the late Robert Clarence Mebane and the daughter of the late Ila Walter Fitch and Mamie Burch Fitch. She was a homemaker and a member of Hawfields Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty M. Kerley of Apex, N.C [Wake County].; sons, Robert F. Mebane and wife, Jean, and Billy Mebane, all of Mebane; grandchildren, Jeff Mebane and Danny Mebane, both of Mebane, Cynthia K. Womble, Mary K. Kelly and Tim H. Kerley, all of Apex; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Hawfields Presbyterian Church by Dr. Curtis Fussell, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time for the service, and at other times at the residence.
