Ruth Tayek Services Held

Ruth Frances Tayek of Monona passed away on September 3rd, 1979, after being rushed to the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 5, 1979, at the Garden City United Methodist "Brick" Church, with Rev. Carroll Brown officiating. Organist was Mrs. Ivon Schultz and soloist was Mrs. Tom James. Pallbearers were Jerry Tayek, Robert Tayek, Roger Lestina, Jim Tayek, Reed Lestina and Roger Saacke. Honorary pallbearers were Elgie Ferguson, Melvin Engelhardt, William Moses Sr., Simon Moses and William Lenth. She was laid to rest at the Monona City Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home was in charge of the services.

Ruth Frances Tayek was born on February 15, 1905, to the family of Dan and Ida Cunningham on a farm east of Monona, Iowa. She attended school and grew up in the Monona area.

On February 8, 1934, she was united in marriage to Vernon Tayek and they were privileged to spend their entire life on the same farm north of Monona.

Ruth had a special place in her heart for several people and was always interested in sharing with them in a supportive love. She loved the farm where they lived and enjoyed working in her garden. She was a member of the Garden City United Methodist Church and the Lydia Circle of the United Methodist Women. She also belonged to the Better Homemaker's Club.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Vernon; one sister, Mrs. Alma Lestina of Monona; two half-sisters, Mrs. Helen Knockel of Monona and Mrs. Betty Siebert of Dubuque; one step-sister, Mrs. Ruth Gunderson of Monona; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
