Ruth was a daughter of Thomas Burch and Sarah Jones Burch. She married Thomas Carlton Jr. on August 12, 1821 in Wilkes County. They had several children that died young whose graves were found by George McNeill in 2002. However the grave for Ruth was not found and believed to be one of the 13 unmarked graves in this cemetery. Children John & Henry died young. Other children were: Daniel, Joel, Mary & Thomas.
