Russell L. Lepley Connellsville

Russell L. Lepley, 87, of Connellsville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Excela Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant. He was born Dec. 12, 1917, in Connellsville, the son of the late Paul V. and Olive M. Saylor Lepley. He retired as president of Connellsville Corp. after 66 years of service. Connellsville Corp. was founded by Daniel Lepley, grandfather of Russell. The corporation had operated in Connellsville for four generations. Among his other activities, he was a longtime member of the Connellsville Chamber of Commerce, serving as an officer and on various committees. He served on the board of the local Pittsburgh National Bank, he was a member for many years of the Pleasant Valley Country Club and was a member of King Solomon?s Lodge No. 346 F.&A.M. and other Masonic groups. He was an active member of the Connellsville Church of the Brethren, where he was church treasurer for a number of years. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Fugate Lepley; a son, Richard M. Lepley, of Connellsville; a daughter, Charlotte E. Lepley Talman, and husband, Dr. William T. Talman, of Iowa City, Iowa; two grandchildren, Andrew Talman, of Omaha, Neb., and Lauren Talman of Iowa City, Iowa; a brother, Hiram Lepley, of Naples, Fla.; four step-sons, John Donald Porter, of Connecticut, Gregory W. Porter, in Ohio, Robert Porter, in Minnesota and Richard M. Porter, in Pittsburgh. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Ruth I. Mansberry Lepley, May 30, 1987; and a sister, Mrs. Ada Zearley. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with entombment in Green Ridge Memorial Park Mausoleum.
