Roy Lee Warren was almost cut in half by a German machine gun; found on battle field by brother Clyde Warren who was in the same Meuse Argonne Offensive (Champagne) France.

The following is as excerpt from a WW I book on the 142nd Infantry. Witness: Cpl. Walter E. Bradfield, Co "H" 142nd Infantry. Warren, 1490614, Roy L., Cpl, Co. "H" 142nd Infantry on Oct 8th, 1918. Corporal Roy L. Warren was lying behind a small tree. While he was lying there a machine gun bullet hit him in the left soulder blade. He starterd to move from there and was again struck by a machine gun bullet in the left side and died a few minutes later. His last words were "This is a hot place boys, you'd better move."
