Information about Roxanna's mother being a Native American (as stated in the memorials to which she is linked) apparently comes from a paper on Ebenezer Crittenden in files of Cincinnatus Town Historian which claims that Ebenezer was b. in England, arrested in 1783 for selling cattle to the British, escaped when his visiting wife "in Indian dress with a blanket" switched clothing with him. Story goes on to say that they later met up in Binghampton and then escaped to the wilderness of what is now Cortland County, NY, putting them there 10 years before other records when wife Anna was about 10 years old. Do not believe that this story can be relied on. It is not supported by any evidence that I have discovered and it is contradictory to said evidence.
