Rose Muskett was born on 26th July 1879 at Luton in Bedfordshire, daughter of a straw hat sewer called Sarah Muskett, formerly Wheelding (or variations thereof), and her husband William Muskett, a general labourer and bricklayer. Rose appears in the 1881 and 1891 censuses living with her parents and siblings at Back Street in Luton. By 1901 the family had moved a short distance to Burr Street.
On 4th May 1907, aged 27, she married a straw hat blocker named Bertie Kempson. They had just one child, a daughter named Eva. The 1911 census finds Rose, Bertie and Eva living at 77 Cambridge Street in Luton, with Rose working as a straw hat finisher.
Eva died aged just six years old in 1915. Rose and Bertie do not appear to have had any other children.
Bertie died in 1925, aged 43.
At the outbreak of the Second World War, Rose was still living at 77 Cambridge Street in Luton. She outlived Bertie by 19 years and died in 1944, aged 64.
