Rosannah Short was the daughter of David Short 1808 and Elmira Myra Bandy Sherril 1815. She had two younger brothers: William Short 1853 and Henry Short 1854 and two older half-brothers: Isaac Harlin Short 1843 – 1906 and John Short 1843 – 1862.
Some time when she was between 17 and 21 years old Rosey and her family moved to Hawkins Co., Tennessee.
On May 22, 1875 Rosie became the wife of William Ward. This marriage produced 6 children. They were: Leroy A "roy" Ward 1876 – 1963; Thomas Harriosn Ward 1876 – 1944; Mattison Ward 1881 – 1958; Alice Ward 1883 – 1967; Mariam "Mire" A Ward 1883 and Addison Ward 1889 – 1911.
When Rosie married Bill, He had at least 4 teenage children plus 2 pre-teenagers at home for Rosie to help finish raising.
In 1900 they were living on a farm that they owned, without a mortgage, in rural Green Co, probably near the Hawkins Co. border.
1910 Christmas was a sad holiday that year, because Rosie had passed away on Dec. 15. Dear Rosie was laid to rest at the Speedwell Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
