Facts and Events
The story my mother related to me was Anson Vosco Call died at about 34 on his way back from a mission for the LDS Church. His grandson Anson Vosco Call II took 4 wives in all. My Great Grandmother was his 3rd wife. [Rosa Emily Stayner] He asked her to marry him soon after his first wife but she said no because she didn't want to break her cousins heart so he married another woman and then she decided why not. The second wife died after about 15 or so years and Anson deicded he would marry another woman to take care of the dead wifes children. This was after the manifesto commanding all church members that there will not be any more plural marriages. So Emily and her cousin told him that if he took on another wife they would leave him. He did and so they did. They were very upset after that even because he built the fourth wife a beautiful house. He had another six children with this fourth wife. The sons of Emily Stayner built her a beautiful house after that in Afton, Wyoming. There are still many Calls there and my Mom told me she has a picture of Grandma Emily in front of her house.
