Ronald D. Pitman Sr., 68, passed away Friday, September 16, 2016, at his home.
He was born August 20, 1948, in Frankfort, to Chester “Porky” Pitman Jr. and Katherine Laughner Pitman. On August 20, 1966, he married Shirley Abston; she survives.
Ron lived most of his life in Frankfort, moving to Indianapolis in 2014. He was a graduate of Frankfort Senior High School, class of 1966. In 1998, he retired from Exide after 32 years of service. Ron enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing, and traveling.
In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by his children, Ronald (Carrie) Pitman II, of Indianapolis, and Wendy (Gary) Conklin and Cindi Myers, both of Frankfort; grandchildren, Ronald Pitman III, Cassie, Cara, and Cami Conklin, Myka (Elijah) Tague, and Clint Myers; two great-grandchildren, Trenton and Treyton Smith; brother, Craig Pitman, of Frankfort; and Katherine Johnson, of Frankfort.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 19, 2016, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastor Shawn Tague officiating. Burial will follow in Bunnell Cemetery in Frankfort.
