Mr. Thomas Saunders Kitson, who
died recently at Snowtown, was a well
known resident of the district. He was
born at Greenwich, England in 1855
and was the son of the Rev. E. Kitson
and Mrs. Kitson. His father was mili-
tary chaplain at Greenwich. Mr. Kit-
son was educated at the Royal Naval
College, London International College
and Cambridge. Before coming to Aus-
Itralia in 1875 in the ship Alexandra he
was associated with Lloyd's shipping
insurance. He settled in Vic
toria and married Miss H. E.
Smith, second daughter of Mr.
and Mrs W. J. Smith, of Gym
bowen. Mr. and Mrs. Kitson resided
in Victoria for some years and then
came to South Australia. Mr. Kitson
was in business in Narrirdy, Penwor-
tham and Blyth and settled in Snow-
town 22 years ago. He was associated
with the Colonial Mutual Insurance
Company for thirty years up to the
time of his death. He had a flair for
poetry and wrote many humorous dis-
scriptions of Snowtown happenings.
He was closely attached to the Snow-
town Methodist Church, and at his
death was senior steward. He left a
widow and nine children. Messrs G.W.
