Wife Eolah died and Robert remarried. Son Edgar disliked step-mother and ran away from home. Son Clarence met his brother Edgar during WWI in France. They agreed to meet the next day in a near by town. There was heavy shelling in the town that night and Edgar did not show for the meeting. After the war Clarence had the V.A., VFW & American Legion check records for trace of Edgar. There was no record of a Edgar Wills. He was never heard from again.
1900 census says he was born in St Helena and immigrated to US in 1872. 1880 census says he was born in Mass. in 1867. St Helena must be correct as he is listed as a passenger on the Brig Hiatienne, arriving in Boston on March 25, 1872, along with his mother, Sophia, and his brothers & sisters at the time.
Robert was appointed administrator of the estate of his wife, Eolah, on 24 April,1912. He had to post a $2000 bond. The bond was co-signed by Rachel T. Wills, and Harriett S. Wills. When Richard died himself 20 years later he had not yet finished the "administration" of the estate and his son Forrey took over.
Robert was appointed guardian of his & Eolah's children on Dec 13, 1905, some 2 years after Eolah died.
