Mr. Robert R. Vaughn SWEPSONVILLE — Mr. Robert R. “Bob” Vaughn, 77, of 1046 Bob Vaughn Lane, died at 6 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2001, at Alamance Regional Medical Center. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs.. Betty Gray Coble Vaughn, who survives, and the son of Mr. Charlie Jake Vaughn Sr. and Mrs.. Carrie Hall Vaughn, both deceased. He was retired from Virginia Mills, where he worked in quality control, and was a member of the Swepsonville Old Timers Baseball Team. He was a member of Swepsonville United Methodist Church and the Wednesday Morning Men’s Fellowship. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and was a charter member and former fire chief of the Swepsonville Fire Department. Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Mrs.. Jennifer V. Ayers and Mrs.. Carrie V. Fogleman, both of Swepsonville; two sons, Mr. W. David Vaughn of the home and Mr. Robert Vaughn Jr.. of Mahomet, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs.. Thelma V. Messer of Clarksville, Va., and Mrs.. Mary V. Cates of Burlington; two brothers, Mr. Raymond Vaughn of Baltimore and Mr. Donald Vaughn of Clarksville; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs.. Margaret V. Hagood; and a brother, Mr. Charlie J. Vaughn. The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. today at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Glenn Everett and the Rev. Joe Lister. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park. The family will be at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham 1½ hours before the service, and at other times at the home.
