Case 54667 Smith Robert Worcester 1807.

Will of "Robert Smith of Worcester ... Gentleman", dated 3 Oct 1801, filed 14 Jul 1807, proved 6 Oct 1807, names son David; son Amos; daughter Abigail the wife of Bnejamin Rice; daughter Lydia the wife of Daniel Ball; daughter Sally the wife of Samuel Bixby; daughter Ruth the wife of Aaron Parker; daughter Esther the wife of Jonathan Gleason Jun'r; grandchildrne Jonathan Flagg and Joel Flagg; grand son Hode[fer?] Ward [under 21]; grand daughter Betsey Ward [under 21]; wife Elizabeth. Wife Elizabeth to be executrix.

  4. Robert's will names a grandson Hode??? Ward and granddaughter Betsy Ward. The daughter who married a Mr. Ward has not been located. The grandchildren are under 21 in 1801 so born after 1780. It is not known which wife such a daughter could belong to.
Source:Wall, Caleb A. North Worcester, Its First Settlers and Old Farms, p. 14, covers this family and mentions a daughter Hannah who married Josiah Flagg and another daughter who married a Ward.
The first marriage appears to misidentify the parents of the Flagg grandchildren (there is a marriage record of Bette Smith to Joel Flagg, Jonathan's death record names father Joel, and Joel's death record names parents Joel & Elizabeth).
No record of the other daughter, or such grandchildren (Betsy is too common of a name to be helpful, but no mention of any name similar to the grandson's) has been found. It is not known why this source thought there might be a daughter Hannah, but if she did not marry Mr. Flagg, perhaps this was the daughter who married Mr. Ward. But nothing has been located for Hannah or any other name.
