Robert E. Smith Sr., 83, of Greensburg, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2008, in Sunrise Assisted Living of Monroeville. He was born Aug. 3, 1924, in Greensburg, a son of the late Wesley T. and Caroline Loughner Smith. Robert had served in the Navy during World War II, and had worked for General Tire Co. in Jeannette. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Greensburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna McAdams Smith; a son, Thomas Wayne Smith; brothers, William, George, Roy and Carl Smith; and infant sister, Betsy Smith. Surviving are his daughter, Anna L. Mathews and husband, Mark, of Forest Hills; a son, Robert E. Smith Jr., of Greensburg; brother, Keith Smith and wife, Barbara, of Greensburg; and sisters, Ruth Olmer and Edna "Patty" Smith, both of Greensburg, and Dorothy Billger, of Allentown. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 N. Main St., Greensburg. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Gene Stuckey officiating. Interment with military honors accorded by the South Greensburg American Legion Post 981 will follow in St. Clair Cemetery.
