Robert Reed, s/o Swithin Reed and Margery [maiden name not given], m. 2 Jul 1771 Elizabeth Hartwell of Bedford. "He was drowned, when out on a fishing excursion outside of Boston Lighthouse, June 5, 1805."
[The sentence about drowning follows a list of children, the last of whom is son Robert. But it reads as if it applies to the father Robert. Apparently confused by this, Hudson, p. 571-2, says both drowned in 1805. But the information of the probate makes it clear the father died in 1796, and so it must be the son, only, who drowned in 1805.]
