Robert G. Reedformerly of Binghamton Robert G. Reed, 57, of East Lake Rd., Owasco, formerly of Binghamton, passed away Monday, November 20, 2006, at his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Newark, N.J., he was the son of Henry and Mary Ann Griffith Reed. Bob was a 1967 graduate of James Caldwell High School where he played baseball and soccer. He was a member of the 1966 team that won the State Soccer Championship in the Suburban Conference League. He was a 1972 graduate of Bucknell University where he double majored in electrical engineering and economics. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, played varsity soccer and served on the National Ski Patrol. Bob was an avid golfer and skier and enjoyed all sports. He loved living on Owasco Lake and designed and engineered the construction of his lakeside home where he enjoyed all water sports. In 1977, he obtained his Professional Engineer License from SUNY Binghamton and his MBA in 1980. He was a member of the I.E.E.E. and in 1998, he was granted a patent for an electrical five-wire system. Bob retired from NYSEG after 34 years of dedicated service in the electrical engineering field. He was a member of their Quarter Century Club and the NYSEG Golf League. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Joyce Fisher Reed; his loving daughters, Lindsey and Alexandra Reed, both of Owasco; his mother, Mary Ann Griffith Reed; a sister, Virgina and her husband, Bernard Demoreuille of Mont Clair, N.J., along with their three children, Peter, Laura and Amy; and Aunt Jane Griffith. Bob was predeceased by his father, Henry Reed just a few weeks ago.There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be Saturday, November 25, at 12 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 17 William St., Auburn, with Deacon Nicholas Valvo officiating. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make contributions to The Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 1130 Corporate Dr., Auburn, N.Y. 13021; or to Bucknell University, Office of Planned Giving, Lewisburg, Pa. 17837, in memory of Bob. Langham Funeral Home of Auburn is handling arrangements.
